Hello All, 5/3/2010 Friday
So, I guess one thing that surprised (in a good way) me was how quickly I found the building and class room, this is so not typical of me at all! Everyone was talking about how they looked everywhere… luckily I happened to walk past a group of engineer instructors striking, so I used that to my advantage! When I arrived though, I was also surprised to see how many people I knew and it was good to catch up with them. The novelty of "back to school" has still not died off in my late 20's as a graduate student!
This project gives me hope- I am able to tap into my creative sense, do a project on something I'm excited and passionate about, and get graded for it. Why can't every class be like this? Referring back to "Love and Fear" by Michael Leunig, I have a little bit of fear, but mostly love, as I trust that I will be learning from a talented instructor and getting good feedback and direction from my peers.
GOOD LUCK! :)

Hello Rachel! yeah it was a bit hard to find the place but the first class was so amused.. I saw some familiar faces from previous classes of development practices then just followed them to the room. It was about my love for the course. Now am thinking of the topic for the assignment and experiencing the fear. Well yeah then love might come when i can work it out in more details. Let's keep sharing love n fear!

I ♥ learning 2, Rachel! :) yes, the return to study (and also how different it is from doing my undergrad!) has struck me by surprise too. I think the diff for me this time 'round is that it is actually more INTENTIONAL - i really didn't think too much about my choice of study straight out of high school :-p
Just like you say, doing this course I think will allow me to align my studies with issues that are really close to my heart, and the first workshop was more than enough inspiration for me to kick-start (at least!) one idea that I had been curious about for a while. So, yeah, totally echo your sentiments here! :)
